Pregnancy Care typically includes the following services:

  • Functional assessment of your pelvic floor/core, related muscles and joints, lifestyle & activities.
  • Treatment to help you maintain pelvic alignment and symmetry during pregnancy to reduce potential pelvic girdle pain and help facilitate labor and delivery.

Postpartum Care

Recovery and rehabilitation postpartum is so important as many women will continue to have pelvic floor dysfunction for many years after giving birth. Pelvic floor muscles are just like any other muscle in our body, and they need to be restored after childbirth.

Homebody postpartum services include:

  • A detailed history including your labour and delivery.
  • A functional assessment of your pelvic floor/core to determine strength, mobility, and perineal tissue recovery for vaginal deliveries.
  • If you are recovering from a cesaerean birth we will also assess scar sensitivity, mobility, pain, and discuss rehabilitation techniques that will optimize your cesarean recovery.
  • You will also receive education and a detailed plan on how to gradually return to your favorite activities, pain and dysfunction free.
  • Returning to activities gradually and with support for your pelvic floor/core is crucial for preventing injury and pelvic floor dysfunction later in life!
Endometriosis Care
Pelvic floor physiotherapy can help improve the function, flexibility, and strength of the pelvic floor muscles. It teaches your muscles how to coordinate and relax, which can ultimately help ease symptoms of endometriosis. A multidisciplinary integrated approach that addresses physical, biopsychosocial, & nutritional aspects of endometriosis is crucial for positive treatment outcomes. Women with endometriosis can often become stuck in a cycle of pain due to negative thought patterns, beliefs about pain, a sensitized nervous system, depression, anxiety and fear. Physiotherapy treatment for endometriosis can help you better understand your pain and give you the tools you need to be free of it!
